Originally introduced in 2007, the Nokia 5310 was one of their XpressMusic range that were specifically designed for playing music. Now, in common with other classics from this time like the 8110 and the 3310 it has been relaunched for a new generation of feature phone users. Looking very similar to the original, the new version has obviously taken it’s design cues from it but with a modern slant and updated specifications.
Bigger 2.4” screen
Bigger all round than the original, the 2020 version weights only slightly more at 88g. This allows it to have a bigger 2.4” TFT screen, but the screen to body ratio is less at 27.5%. The screen resolution remains the same at 240p, but the density is less at 167ppi. It is driven by a Mediatek MT 6260A processor and supports single SIM (mini-SIM) or dual SIM (mini-SIM, dual stand-by).
Optimised for playing music
To support its music playing credentials, the 5310 has dual front-facing stereo speakers as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack, an in-built MP3 player and FM radio. Surprisingly, it only ships with 16MB of storage, but fortunately this is expandable via a microSDHC card slot up to 32GB. Which is just as well if you want to store more than a few MP3 tracks on it. It also has a number of dedicated music playing buttons like pause, FF etc which make playing your favourite track that much easier.
On the back is VGA camera with an LED flash, obviously not as good as the ones you get on a smartphone, but it should be sufficient for capturing that odd snap when you are out and about.
Dual colour finish
Everything is powered by a removable 1200 mAh battery, which it is claimed will last for 22 days in standby mode and be available for up to 7.5 hours of talk time.
The 5310 comes in two dual colour models – white/red and black/red. Personally, I think the white/red one looks better. It can be yours from £35, not bad for an up-to-date, solid and stylish feature phone. This phone would be ideal as a first phone for your children who love their music, or even as a second phone for yourself. If you want one, why not give us a call and we will sort you out.
