If you are looking for a great value, mid-range handset the Nokia 7.1 ticks most of the boxes. Since the Nokia smartphone brand was resurrected by HMD Global in 2017 it has released a number of good quality and well specified Android smartphones. Now with the release of the 7.1 in 2018 it has built on this solid start.
The Nokia 7.1 has a 5.84-inch screen made of Gorilla Glass 3, the back is also made of Gorilla Glass 3 and the whole thing is held together by a two-tone aluminium frame. In common with the newer iPhones, the 7.1’s screen has a small notch at the top centre for the selfie camera and phone earpiece.
Camera and memory
On the back of the Nokia 7.1 is a dual Zeiss-tuned camera array. The main camera is a 12MP one with a f/1.8 aperture, whilst the secondary one has a 5MP sensor with a f/2.4 aperture. The secondary camera is used mainly for depth. The front facing camera is at 8MP with an f/2.0 aperture.
The phone is powered by Snapdragon 636 processor and comes with 64GB of storage (expandable to 400GB with a Micros SD card) and 4GB RAM.
One of the great things about the 7.1 is that it runs stock Android. This means it has none of those annoying and unwanted apps that you spend the first few hours with a new phone getting rid of. It also means that you receive both Android and security updates much quicker than for other phones.
