What to do if your Samsung Smartphone switches off or restarts unexpectedly

Samsung Smartphones are set up so they can switch themselves off unexpectedly to protect themselves from damage. For example, in extreme temperatures when it is getting too hot or cold. If your device is switching itself off frequently you need to check to see if there is any correlation between when it happens and what the phone is doing at the time.

Using Safe Mode to find errant apps

Apps downloaded from third party sources can be a security risk to your device and cause unwanted issues. If you can, try and ensure that you only download apps from secure and reliable sources such as Galaxy apps and the Google Play Store.

If you are having trouble with a specific app on your phone, you can start your device in Safe Mode to see if the app is causing the problem. In Safe Mode only the basic system software is active. If your device works in Safe Mode, there's a good chance that it's something that's been installed which is causing the problems. To switch your phone to Safe Mode:

  1. Turn off your device
  2. Press and hold the power button to turn on your device
  3. When the Samsung logo appears on screen press and hold the volume down button
  4. Once Safe Mode is displayed on the lock screen you can release the volume down button
  5. Now you can use your phone as normal to see if the issue remains. If not, delete or uninstall the app that you believe to be causing the issues.

To switch your device back to its normal mode, turn it off and on again.

If you are still having problems after trying the above, why not call into one of our retail stores. Our friendly and experienced staff will be pleased to help you with any phone-related problems you may have.
